SOUTH AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC TEACHERS’ UNION (SADTU)
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) has the following vacancy at its Provincial Office in the Gauteng.
Provincial Organiser
This is a senior position within the organisation and only experienced person need to apply.
The above incumbent will be required to perform the following duties:
- Develop and implement a provincial recruitment campaign/ strategy for all education institutions
- Organise and attend launches of union structures in all institutions, e.g. schools, colleges, universities
- Assist with conducting elections within the union structures
- Represent the union members at different forums
- Ensure the smooth running of the organising department
- Coordinate the organizing programs of the PEC and the NEC
- Participate in all the COSATU campaigns
- Maintain a good working relationship with the COSATU affiliates; SASCO; COSAS and all the stakeholders in the education sector and labour environment
- Develop the capacity building programs of the union
Qualifications
- Post Matric qualification and or relevant experience
- +/- 3 years organising experience
- Case management experience
- Thorough understanding of the trade union movement in SA
Other requirements
- Good negotiation and bargaining skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks timeously
- Report writing skills
- Good listening and interpersonal skills
- Good written and communication skills
- Accountability and ability to work independently
- Valid Driver’s License
