SADTU EASTERN CAPE DIPS ITS BANNER IN HONOUR OF COMRADE THANDAZA”CHWAMA” KOYA.
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) in the Province of the Eastern Cape conveys its deepest revolutionary condolences to the family, comrades, friends, and all loving associates of Comrade Thandaza Koya who passed away on Sunday, 28 December 2025. He will be laid to rest on 08 January 2026 in Dimbaza.
Cde Koya cut his political teeth in the Youth Congress Movement, where he distinguished himself as one of the most fearless activists of his generation. He served SADTU and the broader education sector with unwavering commitment, integrity, and humility. His contribution to SADTU was marked by unconditional discipline, intellectual depth, and a firm belief in social justice.
Thou you are gone Dibashe, your light continues to shine in our hearts. Gone from our sight but never from our hearts. The passing on of Cde Koya is a devastating loss not only to his family but to SADTU, the labour movement in general, the education sector at large and society as a whole. In him we lost a reliable comrade, a people’s servant, a true patriot, a tried and tested leader, a loving brother, and father.
We therefore pledge our revolutionary solidarity and support to the Lawu clan and all revolutionaries and further making a clarion call to continue with the struggle of fighting for quality, public and decolonised education in honour of Cde Koya. Hamba Kahle Chwama, Dibashe….
