SADTU Statement on the collapse of Coastal College
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union in Kwazulu Natal is disturbed by the deliberate collapse of the Coastal College in Durban. The College has been under the Administrator, Mr Biyela. Instead of improving the state of the College it has deteriorated under his leadership. As we speak there has been no teaching and learning for many weeks now as gates are allegedly locked by security guards who have not been paid. Students have not been given any proper meal for weeks.

SADTU Limpopo Province has noted the recent reconfiguration of the Provincial Executive Committee by the Premier of the Province Cde Stanley Mathabatha which resulted in the Limpopo Department of Education receiving a new MEC in the person of the Cde Mavhungu-Leruli Ramakhanya. The union fully welcomes her deployment to the Limpopo Department of Education and believes strongly that she has the wherewithal to tackle the myriad of challenges facing the department and will help to improve the educational outcomes in the Province.

SADTU-NW Statement on the shooting and murder of Rutanang Primary School Teacher
The South African Democratic Teachers' Union in the North West Province (SADTU NW) is shocked and saddened by the news of the shooting and murder of an educator at Rutanang Primary School. It is alleged that the horrific incident happened just outside the school gate in the morning of the 31 May 2022. This incident confirms our long-standing view that our schools are no longer safe for Teachers and Learners.
Correction of the earlier statement on the shooting of a teacher at Sea Cow Lake School
SADTU KZN would want to indicate that Mr Zulu survived the shooting incident that took place while he was teaching in an afternoon class at Sea Cow Lake school last Friday.
