SADTU wishes TVET colleges students good luck in their examinations

13 November 2020

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) wishes the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students all the best in their examinations. Examinations began on 10 November and will finish on 10 December.

The TVET sector has a crucial role to play in the country’s development. As a developmental state, South Africa needs students with the skills acquired at TVET colleges to work in the many infrastructure projects that have been announced by President Ramaphosa.

We commend the lecturers as well as the students who have managed to keep going and are writing in the midst of COVID 19 which has brought disruptions in the livelihoods of all.

We appeal to the institutions and examinations centres to ensure they comply with the COVID 19 safety regulations.

Lastly, we are aware thousands of TVET graduates are sitting at home because of the backlogs in issuing certificates.  We therefore appeal to the Department of Higher Education and Training to ensure that students who pass receive their certificates timeously so that they are in a position to find employment.
