We welcome the decision to relieve the DG for education Bobby Soobrayan of his duty as the chief accounting officer for Basic Education in the country. We appreciate the leadership shown in defense of education and the future of our children. We believe that this will go a long way to stabilize education and create the needed labour peace in our sector.

We are confident that collective bargaining as a strong pillar to labour peace and guarantor of stability and a condusive environment for learning and teaching will be restored without any delay.

As SADTU we are committed to the quality learning and teaching campaign and we will continue to play our part towards realizing the goals thereof.

We thank all the members of the Union for standing firm behind the leadership as we carried a mandate to defend collective bargaining.

We further commit to work with whoever will prioritize and respect the right of all South African children to quality, free education and to work and respect all stakeholders as equal partners in our quest to transform our education.
