SADTU sends condolences to LIMUSA and the Gina family

28 January 2019

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) expresses it sincerest condolences to its sister union in COSATU, the Liberated Metalworkers Union of South Africa (LIMUSA) and the Gina family for the untimely passing on of its founder member and General Secretary, Cedric Gina.

Comrade Gina was a gallant fighter who refused to be swayed by emotions and stood firmly behind COSATU’s founding principle of “One Industry, One Union, One Sector, One Federation” and established a home for all metalworkers in LIMUSA in 2015.

Cde Gina never ceased to fight for better working conditions of workers, more especially the metal workers, of this country.

He led a united, democratic and worker-controlled organization with a paramount belief of serving its members and not to turn them into spectators or clients.

His contribution will forever remain in the annals of workers’ struggles in South Africa. May his soul rest in peace.
