SADTU National Sports Festival Media Alert

South Africa’s biggest teacher union, the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) will celebrate its 25th Anniversary by hosting a three-day National Sports Festival and commemorating World Teachers’ Day under the theme: “Empowering teachers, building sustainable societies” in KwaZulu-Natal. World Teachers’ Day is celebrated across the globe on the 5th of October.

The National Sports Festival – one of the biggest events in the SADTU calendar this year - is a culmination of sporting activities members have been engaged in since the beginning of the year from branch, regional and provincial levels. Members will compete in various sporting codes ranging from athletics, soccer, netball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, pool and darts. The event will attract close to 1 500 delegates from the nine provinces.

The Sports Festival will take place as follows:

Dates : 3 – 5 October 2015
Venue : Brettonwood High School, 399 Oliver Lear Dr, Umbilo, Durban.
