NEHAWU wishes SADTU a united, peaceful and successful National Congress

3 October 2014

NEHAWU wishes our sister union, the South African Democratic Teachers {SADTU}, a peaceful, united and successful 8th National Congress. We hope and trust that the delegates will work hard to come up with resolutions that will give answers to the organisational, political and socio-economic questions of the day.

We are proud of SADTU and our shared history over the years. We have stood side by side in the trenches to defend the workers, improve their working conditions and bring about the much needed transformation of the education system. The last matric results have shown the commitment of SADTU in improving the education of the working class children and their record of withstanding vilification and smear campaigns from the rightwing demagogues attests to their political character and clarity.

The 8th National Congress of SADTU takes place at a very critical time in our revolution and in the history of our beloved federation, COSATU. We are very much hopeful that the delegates will assist all of us to find the lasting solutions to the immediate challenges facing the federation of the workers, our Alliance, our country and its people. The militant character of SADTU assures us that, we have a reliable ally in the struggle for "People’s Education for People’s Power".

We wish SADTU, a very productive and successful congress!
