SADTU STANDPOINT ON SALARY NEGOTIATIONS -19 JULY 2010
The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) has, since the re-opening of schools for the third term, been engaging with its members on the current wage offer by the State and seeking mandate on the next cause of action the Union should take following the failed conciliation process.
This consultation process will continue until Friday, 23 July 2010. Once the mandates have been received, subsequent executive meetings - from regional and provincial levels - will take place to consolidate the views of members and forward written mandates to the General Secretary for tabling to the special National Executive Committee meeting. The National Executive Committee is the only body that shall make the final decision.
As SADTU we would like to reiterate our commitment to have this wage impasse resolved by making ourselves available at all times to engage with the employer. The onus is on the employer to ensure that the strike is averted.
