SADTU Gauteng to kick-start pickets calling for an end to "mass meeting classes" in township and rural schools

5 May 2016

The media are invited to attend and report on the first of SADTU`s countrywide pickets around the unfair treatment of the child of the poor and working class who are subjected to deplorable conditions of overcrowded classrooms due to the current Post Provisioning Norms (PPN).

After many attempts by the Union pleading with the Department of Basic Education to review these norms, the National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved to engage in different forms of action, including pickets, in order make our voice heard.

SADTU in Gauteng will be the first province to engage in a picket.

It will take place as follows:

Date: Friday, 6 May 2016
Venue: No.2 Robin Close, Infinity Office Park, Meyersdal.
Time: 12noon
